This year was the fourth that Midland Tomorrow hosted its Annual Awards Breakfast. Established in 2003 to honor businesses, organizations and individuals that have made significant contributions to Midland's economic development and quality of life, the Midland Tomorrow Awards are given to businesses that have demonstrated significant financial and/or physical expansion of their operations and investment in the community, that have taken significant efforts to partner with other Midland organizations and individuals on shared ventures to develop our economy, or that have devoted their resources to developing new and exciting products and services in their fields. This year, we were proud to honor nine deserving individuals and businesses for their achievements.

Over 300 community leaders in business, education, foundations and nonprofit organizations registered to attend at the Great Hall at Valley Plaza Resort on October 16 to celebrate individuals, organizations, and businesses that have made outstanding contributions to Midland's economic development and quality of life - and witness firsthand the exciting new ways they are developing our technology industry to move Midland toward the future.

We would like to thank many people who donated their time and effort to make this event a success. Our twenty event sponsors provided the financial support that made the Breakfast possible. Sponsors included Saginaw-Midland-Bay Michigan Works!; MidMichigan Health; Dow Corning Corporation; Braun Kendrick Finkbeiner PLC; Burnside and Lang PC; CBM Services, Inc.; Chemical Bank; Citizens Bank; Comerica Bank; Delta College Corporate Services; The Dow Chemical Company; Ieuter Insurance Group; McAlvey & Associates; Midland Cogeneration Venture; National City Bank; North Coast Technology Investors, LP; The Rossman Group; Saginaw Bay Underwriters; Saginaw Valley State University; and Wolgast Corporation.

Presenters Bob Stafford, Cal Ieuter and Jon Lynch introduced each award winner seamlessly. Scott Fuson, Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Service for Dow Corning Corporation, provided a dynamic keynote address exploring the reasons Midland and the Mid-Michigan region are a prime location for technology businesses to thrive.

We would also like to give a special thanks to our Midland Tomorrow investors, whose support now and throughout the year makes it possible for us to achieve our mission of assisting businesses to create and retain quality jobs. We regret that some investors were erroneously listed in the wrong categories at the Awards Program. Please visit our updated investor page for a correct listing.

A Webcast of Mr. Fuson's keynote address is available by clicking the picture above. You can also click the link underneath the picture to download the video as a 28 MB Windows Media Video (WMV) file. We would encourage you to spread the word about these items as one more way to show people that Midland is a hub for technology innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and business success.

Thanks to all our clients, investors and friends for your continuing support of our activities. You are the reason Midland's present and future are so bright.
