| RSPPA2: Assistance for Technology Startup Businesses |
RSPPA2 is an extension of the original RSPPA (Rational Siting/Push-Pull Accelerator) project jointly administered by Midland Tomorrow (MT) and Michigan State University (MSU). The original RSPPA program was successful by many measures, assisting 23 companies to start up in the Lansing area and two in Midland. The program also assisted six additional existing companies and prospective entrepreneurs in Midland and six more in the Lansing area. It helped to create at least 35 new jobs and leverage approximately $17 million in federal grants and other grant support, including the U.S. Department of Labor’s WIRED grant the Mid-Michigan region recently received.
This year, MT and MSU received $1.05 million from Michigan's 21st Century Jobs Fund to renew the very successful RSPPA program. The RSPPA-2 project focuses initially on four technology clusters:
- Nanostructured materials and composites
- Synthetic pathways, intermediates and specialty chemicals
- Biobased materials and technologies
- Plastics and performance composites
If your business falls within one of those clusters, RSPPA2 can offer you...
- Assistance with technology commercialization
- $50,000 loans for development of technology
- Help in securing federal technology grants
- Networking opportunities and forums
